Sónia Estrela holds a PhD in Library and Archival Information Science – Specialty of Theory and Methodology of Study and Organization of Library and Archival Information from the University of Coimbra (2014), a degree in History (1999) and a specialization in Documentary Science – Archive Options (2003) and Documentation and Library (2004) from the same University.

She holds a master’s degree in Archives, Libraries and Information Science from the University of Évora (2008) and a post-graduate degree in Business Information Systems from Instituto Superior de Contabilidade e Administração do Porto – Instituto Politécnico do Porto (2017).

She has been an Adjunct Professor at Escola Superior de Tecnologia e Gestão de Águeda (ESTGA-UA) at Aveiro University since 2004, where she started by teaching several courses in the area of Information Science and more recently Information Management and Information Systems in several undergraduate programs. She has also taught in the Masters in Reading Promotion and School Libraries at the University of Aveiro.
He conducts research in information management and decision making, especially in SMEs.
