Olívia Manuela Marques Pestana
Biographical note

Olívia Pestana is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts, University of Porto, since 2013, in the Department of Communication and Information Sciences. She works as an integrated researcher at CITCEM – Center for Transdisciplinary Research on Culture, Space and Memory.

She holds a degree in Modern Languages and Literature from the Faculty of Arts, University of Porto (1992), a post-graduate degree in Documentary Sciences from the University of Coimbra (1996), and a Master in Information Management from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto (2006). In 2011, he completed his PhD in Information and Communication in Digital Platforms, an academic degree awarded by the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto in partnership with the University of Aveiro.

She was director of the Bachelor of Information Science (2014-2019) and a member of the board of directors of R&D Center CETAC.MEDIA (2012-2016).

He is a member of the Pedagogical Council of FLUP (2019 -…), a member of the Scientific Committees of the Master in Information Science (2015 -…) and of the Master in History and Heritage (2014 -…) and a member of the Monitoring Committee of the Degree in Information Science (2019 -…).

His research interests currently focus on knowledge organization systems, content analysis, and subject indexing in various domains. It is also interested in the study of undergraduate and graduate education in Information Science, especially in the organization and representation of information and knowledge.

He is a member of the IFLA Standing Committee Subject Analysis and Access and Country Representative at the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T).
