Biographical note

Maria Inês Peixoto Braga holds a PhD in Information and Communication in Digital Platforms, a Master’s degree in Portuguese and Brazilian Studies, and a degree in Modern Languages and Literature – Portuguese and French Studies from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto. She holds a Diplôme d’Etudes Approfondies (D.E.A.) from the University of Toulouse le-Mirail – France and a post-graduate degree in Information Sciences from Universidade Aberta.

He was a teacher at Escola Superior de Estudos Industriais e de Gestão (ESEIG) in Vila do Conde – of the Instituto Politécnico do Porto, for 25 years, teaching subjects in the area of Languages, Communication and Information Science in several courses at the institution. In parallel to her teaching activity, she has performed management functions at ESEIG, advising the direction of the same, was responsible for the Library, Responsible for the Office of International Programs of ESEIG and Coordinator of the degree in Sciences and Technologies of Documentation and Information. She was Coordinator of the Scientific-Technical Unit of Languages and Law, member of the Scientific-Technical Council, member of the School Council and Dean of ESEIG.

Since 2016, she has been an Adjunct Professor at Instituto Superior de Contabilidade e Administração do Porto in the Department of Information Systems, teaching in the degree in Documentation and Information Sciences and Technologies and in the Master in Business Information.

Her scientific research has focused predominantly on the areas of Information Science, Higher Education and Communication. She is the author of several papers and articles and has participated in multiple national and international congresses and conferences.

Her area of expertise is information literacy, and her PhD Thesis “INFORMATION LITERACY IN POLITECH EDUCATION: skills and practices in a School of Higher Education” was on this topic.
