"The Black Death in the Kingdom of Granada in the 14th Century" interview with Fernando Girón-Irueste

CITCEM presents another video from the initiative “Pandemics and History in the Covid-19 Era“, this time with an international researcher, Fernando Girón-Irueste, professor jubilado of history of science at the Real Academia de Medicina y Cirugía de Andalucía Oriental. The theme of this session is “The Black Death in the Kingdom of Granada in the 14th Century”questions such as how the Black Death entered the Kingdom of Granada in the 14th century, and what sources are available to us to learn about the reality of a disease that affected people of all religions, will be answered.
The Kingdom of Granada was one of the cultural epicenters of the Iberian Peninsula during the Middle Ages, and as such, it is relevant to understand how the specialists and intellectuals of the time contributed to the knowledge of the disease and its treatment, which included, for example, fumigations made from roses or the ingestion of vinegar.

The interview can be seen through the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lGIyxHjywY&feature=youtu.be
