Biographical note

Maria Manuela Gomes de Azevedo Pinto. holds a PhD in Information and Communication in Digital Platforms from the University of Porto and the University of Aveiro with a thesis entitled “Information Management in Portuguese Public Universities : Reequalization and proposal of a model” (2016). She has a degree in History (FLUP, 1985), specialized in Documentary Science (FLUC, 1998), and took the Educational Aptitude and Scientific Capacity Tests in Information Science in 2008 (FLUP). Assistant Professor at FLUP, she teaches in the following courses: Degree in Information Science, Degree in Communication Sciences, Master in Information Science, Master in Museology, Master in Communication and Creative Industries Management, and PhD in Information and Communication in Digital Platforms. He is a member of the Board of the Department of Communication and Information Sciences, coordinates the Creative Industries Accelerator Lab (Creia.Lab) and co-ordinates the Observatory of Creative Industries in Portugal, based at UI&D CITCEM. She structured the service and held the position of coordinator of the Service Delivery Support Unit (UNAPS – FLUP) between March 2010 and January 2014. He was a senior staff member of several companies (1985-1996), having developed his activity in the area of Computer Science and Information Systems. Later, she worked at the Vila do Conde City Hall (1998-2004), as an archivist/information manager, also collaborating as a teacher in the Specialization Course in Documentary Sciences at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Coimbra (2000-2005). Between 2016 and 2019 she was a member and was part of the Board of CIC.Digital Porto – Research Center in Communication, Information and Digital Culture from which she transitioned as an integrated member to CITCEM – Center for Transdisciplinary Research “Culture, Space and Memory” (2019- ) while remaining a collaborator of CITE / INESC TEC – Center for Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship (2016- ). He also coordinated the New Media Lab for Heritage (eHeritage.Lab), created at the Competence Center for Digital Media at the University of Porto (MIL). Her area(s) of expertise is Social Sciences with emphasis on Communication and Information Sciences. She conducts research in information management and information service management; information preservation and security; information literacy and digital inclusion; cultural and creative industries; innovation management and entrepreneurship. He coordinated, among others, the Digital Museum project at U.Porto and participates and/or participated as Researcher in 5 international project(s). namely the recent European projects “Arts and Humanities Entrepreneurship Hubs” (AHEH) and “Mu.SA: Museum Sector Alliance”. As a result of her interest in management and innovation, she is also involved in transversal extracurricular activities in the scope of entrepreneurship directed to university students, being a member of the coordination and volunteer teacher of V.IVE! (Living Innovation and Entrepreneurship at U.Porto) and, between 2008 and 2017, of the Start UP Programme at U.Porto (JA-YE/Millennium BCP) and, also, member of the General Council of CEdUP (Entrepreneurship Club of the University of Porto), between 2015-2018. He has 8 book chapter(s) and 6 book(s). He has published 15 articles in peer-reviewed journals (indexed in SCOPUS, Web of Science, LISA and others), conference proceedings, among other publications. He supervised 2 and co-supervised 2 doctoral theses, supervised 35 master’s dissertation(s) and co-supervised 20. Received 4 award(s) and/or honors. In his professional activities he has interacted with 51 collaborator(s) in co-authorships of scientific papers.
