Biographical note

He has a degree in History from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto (1988), a post-graduate degree in Documentary Science, option Libraries and Documentation, from the same university (1991), and a Master’s degree in Information Management from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (2002). Senior technician at the Oporto Municipal Public Library and researcher-researcher at CITCEM – Center for Transdisciplinary Research “Culture, Space and Memory”, a R&D unit based at the Faculty of Arts, University of Oporto. He has collaborated in exhibitions, research projects and presented several papers in scientific meetings in the fields of information and documentation sciences, history of science and history of books and libraries. His areas of interest and research are currently centered on the history of books (emphasis on old scientific and medical books), inventories and catalogs of bookstores in the Modern Age, and the history of sciences. He is the author of several studies and articles, published in national and international books and journals, focusing mainly on these themes. It is also concerned with reading, transcribing, studying and editing manuscript and printed sources in these fields.
