Milene dos Anjos Fernandes
CITCEM researcher Milene dos Anjos Fernandes was awarded the Miguel Monteiro Prize — Studies on the Fafe Diaspora, awarded by the Fafe City Council, for her work titled “Emigration as a Family Strategy: Kinship Networks, Sibling Groups, and the Probability of Emigrating in the Municipality of Fafe (1830–1920).”
The nationwide award was established in honor of historian Miguel Monteiro and is intended to encourage research and the publication of scholarly works on the Fafe diaspora, while also promoting the mission of the Museum of Migration and Communities.
The award-winning work was carried out as part of the researcher’s doctoral project and her research as a collaborating researcher at CITCEM.
