II Marão Road Colloquium - Settlement and communication routes throughout History
The II Colloquium on Marão ‘s Roads – Towns and communication routes throughout History will take place in the auditorium of Casa do Povo da Campeã (41°17’29.64 “N, 7°52’27.47 “W), Vila Real, next October 9th and 10th, with online broadcasting: https://bit.ly/2N3mVte
The organization of this event is the result of a partnership between the Campeã Parish Council, the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança, the Vila Real Municipal Library, and the Arquivo de Memórias association.
The colloquium will bring together several specialists and researchers in the fields of History, Archaeology, Anthropology and Ethnography, who will present studies on the theme of rural and urban settlement and its articulation with communication routes throughout History, in Serra do Marão and surrounding regions. Emphasis will be given to the historical and traditional experiences of the people along the route of the old roads and, on the other hand, to the identification and valorization of the resulting material and cultural heritage.
As part of the colloquium’s program, there will also be a concert of Tuna da Campeã, on Saturday, October 9th, at 9:45pm, and a walkOn Sunday, October 10th, at 9am, there will be a guided tour of the section of the old Marão Way that goes from Calçada do Arco to Fonte do Ladrão.
Registration is required to attend the presentations in person or participate in the walk.
– The registration for the components of the colloquium is independent, and there may be registration for each of them separately or for all of them.
