Appre(e)ndering the Landscape: multidisciplinary perceptions
‘Appre(e)nder the Landscape: multidisciplinary perceptions’, is a seminar that aims to address the themes of Landscape and Cultural Heritage from a diachronic and multidisciplinary perspective, highlighting the active role they play in the construction and consolidation of identities at various scales. Addressing Landscape in its spatial and temporal dimension, an element inherent to living, we intend to discuss different concepts that relate to it: territory, environment, place.
The concept of landscape is intrinsically linked to action, movement, perception and the senses, and its definition tends to be adjusted according to contexts or disciplines. A permanent element between us and the Other of the past, the transformations (physical and conceptual) it has undergone over time make the Landscape a palimpsest of diverse experiences that should be explored. In an attempt to overcome the widespread dichotomy between nature and culture, we intend to reflect on the diversity of social practices inherent in the construction of Landscape from Prehistory to Contemporary times, calling for different perspectives.
