CITCEM researcher wins Portuguese Museology Association Award
Sandra Senra, researcher at CITCEM/FLUP, was distinguished by APOM – Portuguese Association of Muse ology with the “Academic Project on Museology” Award, for her doctoral thesis entitled “Objetos de design em museus. Industrial Portugal. Links between design and industry. In-depth case study”. This award is intended to reward master’s dissertations or doctoral theses that address museology themes with rigor and innovation.
The APOM 2023 Awards ceremony took place on May 26 at the Air Museum in Pêro Pinheiro (Sintra), with the presence of dozens of professionals from the sector, including the president of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) Emma Nardi.
Sandra Senra has a PhD in Heritage Studies – branch of specialty museology by the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto with a PhD scholarship from the Foundation for Science and Technology. Researcher at CITCEM – Transdisciplinary Research Center “Culture, Space and Memory”. She has a degree in Art History and a Master in Museology from FLUP. She was Senior Technician in Art History at the Cultural Heritage Department of the Porto City Council, having developed the Inventory of public and private Religious Heritage and the Inventory of Ceramic, Decorative and Coating Elements of Porto. As part of her Master’s degree she did an internship at the Casa-Oficina António Carneiro in Porto and at the Museu Marítim in Barcelona, where she studied a painting collection. She was a researcher in the field of museology in the CIDES.PT Project – Interpretation Center of Portuguese Design and in the Project “ESAD-IDEA COLLECTION, INVENTARIATION, CURATION, DISSEMINATION”. Her area of interest moves around the study and management of objects and collections in a museum context, with the purpose of understanding and mapping the criteria and meanings that construct them.
