Workshop: Walking Among Voices: Sensitive Cartographies of Migration
Slow Curation – Ideas Lab
with Victoria Martínez-Vérez and Paula Gil-Ruiz
Workshop:
Walking Among Voices
Sensitive Cartographies of Migration
A participatory research-creation workshop exploring migrant memories, situated listening, and the construction of sensory cartographies, facilitated by Victoria Martínez-Vérez (University of Valladolid) and Paula Gil-Ruiz (University of León), as part of Curadoria Lenta – Ideas Lab.
Based on the Voces de la Migración project, the proposal features an installation composed of tarps, photographs, altered postcards, and stones as portable memories, through which participants collectively construct a relational map of migrant experiences.
The workshop is conceived as a practice of slow curating—a methodology that views slowness as a prerequisite for attention, listening, and shared creation—in dialogue with CITCEM’s lines of work and the conceptual framework of Slow Memory / Memória Lenta
Through an initial drift, the transformation of images into correspondences, and the symbolic incorporation of stone, the workshop culminates in a choral poem and a final constellation—an ephemeral installation that serves as a sensory archive of the process.
The workshop will be conducted in Spanish.
