{"id":25456,"date":"2026-08-05T13:39:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T13:39:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/citcem.org\/?p=25456"},"modified":"2026-08-05T13:42:28","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T13:42:28","slug":"docente-da-flup-integra-o-management-committee-da-acao-cost-terra-atomica","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citcem.org\/en\/docente-da-flup-integra-o-management-committee-da-acao-cost-terra-atomica\/","title":{"rendered":"FLUP Faculty Member Joins the Management Committee of the COST Action &#8220;Terra Atomica&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Alice Semedo, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto and a researcher at CITCEM, has been appointed as Portugal\u2019s representative on <em>the Management Committee<\/em> of COST Action CA25116 \u2013 Terra Atomica: Exploring the Afterlives of Nuclear Landscapes in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>Terra Atomica is a European interdisciplinary research network that brings together researchers, policymakers, artists, educators, and communities to study the cultural, social, environmental, and heritage legacies of nuclear landscapes. Organized into six <em>working groups<\/em>, the initiative promotes scientific collaboration in areas such as heritage policy, the transformation of former nuclear sites, artistic and media representations, public participation, and education. Among its areas of focus is the<i> Nuclear Heritage Education<\/i> Working Group, which is dedicated to developing innovative pedagogical approaches and promoting a critical understanding of the legacies of the atomic age through education and heritage.<\/p>\n<p>Coordinated by an international network of experts, Terra Atomica aims to establish a new field of research on nuclear heritage by promoting innovative methodologies, recommendations for public policy, and dialogue among different disciplines, regions, and communities.<\/p>\n<p>The appointment strengthens FLUP\u2019s and CITCEM\u2019s participation in a leading European initiative dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of nuclear heritage, memory, education, and the societal challenges associated with the legacies of the atomic age.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Alice Semedo, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto and a researcher at CITCEM, has been appointed as Portugal\u2019s representative on the Management Committee of COST Action CA25116 \u2013 Terra Atomica: Exploring the Afterlives of Nuclear Landscapes in Europe.
