Title\/General theme of the session<\/strong>: Finance and accounting in 14th-17th century Europe<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Session Summary:<\/strong> The purpose of this workshop is to explore different levels and dimensions of public finance in late-medieval Europe, extending the analysis to the 17th century. Three complementary lines of research will be addressed: the financing of the Portuguese Crown, international economic networks and relations, and the impact of historical conflicts on the structure and evolution of state finances.<\/p>\n

The approach will be based on the analysis of primary documentation, with particular attention to how these sources allow us to reconstruct financing practices, the circulation of capital and the transformation of tax structures. The aim is to promote a dynamic and grounded reflection on the agents, instruments and contexts that shaped medieval financial development.<\/p>\n
