The III International Meeting of Archives, Libraries and Museums (ABM) will be held on September 9, 10 and 11, 2025, in Salvador, Bahia, and invites participation and submission of papers, with publication of the lectures presented in a scientific journal and book.<\/p>\n

The event is promoted by the Graduate Program in Information Science (PPGCI) of the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), through the Institute of Information Science (ICI) and with the research groups G-ACERVOS, LAPCI, LTI and GREC; in partnership with the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto (FLUP) and the CITCEM \/ FCT research center; and inaugurates the partnership with the Department of Library Science and Documentation of the Faculty of Humanities, Communication and Documentation of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M).<\/p>\n

The Executive Committee of the III ABM is made up of Professors Zeny Duarte de Miranda and Jos\u00e9 Carlos Sales dos Santos (ICI\/PPGCI\/G-ACERVOS\/LAPCI\/LTI\/GREC\/UFBA); Professor Armando Malheiro da Silva (CITCEM\/FLUP); and Professors Miguel Angel Marzal Garc\u00eda-Quismondo and Eduardo Ju\u00e1rez Valero (DBD\/FHCD-UC3M).<\/p>\n

The ABM, which was held for the first time in 2011 in Salvador, has established itself as a forum of excellence for the presentation and discussion of studies on the interdisciplinarity between Information Science and Museology, bringing together specialists from Brazil, Portugal and other countries.<\/p>\n

Its origins date back to the post-doctoral studies of Professor Dr. Zeny Duarte de Miranda (UFBA), with support from FCT (Portugal), CAPES and FAPESB (Brazil), in collaboration with Full Professors Dr. Armando Malheiro da Silva and Dr. Fernanda Ribeiro from the University of Porto.<\/p>\n

Motivated by the Year of Portugal in Brazil (2011), the ABM was born with the aim of strengthening exchanges between Portuguese-speaking professionals in the areas of archives, libraries and museums.<\/p>\n

In 2022, the II ABM, held in the city of Porto, celebrated the bicentenary of Brazil’s independence and the centenary of the flight across the South Atlantic, bringing together participants from Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Spain, Portugal and Uruguay, under the theme “Archives, Libraries and Museums: from syncretism to integration”. This event resulted in the publication of three books and a special edition of the journal Fontes Documentais.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Now, the ABM returns to Salvador with the theme “Entrepreneurship and Future Solutions”, proposing to strengthen academic, scientific, technological and innovation exchanges between higher education institutions, research groups and cultural centers, with an emphasis on realities in Portuguese-speaking and Ibero-American countries.<\/p>\n

In addition to the partnership with the University of Porto, this edition celebrates the formalization of the agreement with the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, expanding the international cooperation network.<\/p>\n

The III ABM promotes the internationalization of scientific production, the advancement of the Humanities and the link between academic knowledge and the demands of society, from a perspective of critical and participatory citizenship, while also encouraging the popularization of science.<\/p>\n

The event aims to strengthen the social use of information, memory and cultural heritage, bringing science and culture closer to everyday life, and broadening the impact of the Humanities on social transformation.<\/p>\n

With the participation of representatives from institutions in Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Peru, Chile, Cuba, Mexico, among others, the ABM is consolidating itself as a space for reflection on the contemporary challenges of academic training, professional activity and heritage preservation.<\/p>\n

In line with the objectives of multidisciplinarity, open science and internationalization, the III ABM promotes academic excellence and fosters lasting collaborative networks.<\/p>\n

The event has the support of the research groups G-ACERVOS, LAPCI, LTI, GREC and CITCEM, and the institutions UFBA, U.PORTO, UC3M, CAPES, CNPq and FCT.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
