{"id":15797,"date":"2019-12-09T09:30:56","date_gmt":"2019-12-09T09:30:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/citcem.org\/eventos\/sixteenth-century-fourteenth-century\/"},"modified":"2024-04-18T17:56:35","modified_gmt":"2024-04-18T17:56:35","slug":"sixteenth-century-fourteenth-century","status":"publish","type":"eventos","link":"https:\/\/citcem.org\/en\/events\/sixteenth-century-fourteenth-century\/","title":{"rendered":"Sixteenth century Fourteenth century"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>COLLOQUIUM &#8220;Seiscentistas Quatrocent\u00f5es: for a review of Luso-Brazilian Baroque Literature&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The passage of the four hundredth anniversary of the birth of the satirical poet Jo\u00e3o Sucarelo Claramonte (*1619 \u20201668), known as the poet of the nonsense of Porto, serves as a pretext for an attempt to take stock of the Luso-Brazilian Baroque. After the works of Maria de Lurdes Belchior and V\u00edtor Manuel de Aguiar e Silva, a series of important works have appeared in the last two decades &#8211; almost always in the form of dissertations and theses &#8211; on the authors that Te\u00f3filo Braga referred to as  <em>sixteenth century<\/em>These include Jer\u00f3nimo Ba\u00eda, D. Feliciana de Mil\u00e3o, Greg\u00f3rio de Matos, Jorge da C\u00e2mara, D. Tom\u00e1s de Noronha, Ant\u00f3nio da Fonseca Soares, Barbosa Bacelar, Gon\u00e7alo Soares da Franca or Jo\u00e3o Sucarelo Claramonte, often contemplating more theoretical issues surrounding the literature of the time.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this, the authors mentioned are only a small sample of the considerable number of poets who, as Aguiar e Silva points out, appear &#8220;in the numerous songbooks and miscellanies&#8221; of the 16th century. The poetic production of the Portuguese Baroque still lacks a real survey, study and systematization.
