Four professors from the University of Porto are among the personalities distinguished by the Municipality of Porto at its annual ceremony to award the Medal of Honor and the Medal of Municipal Merit, in which the municipality paid “tribute to the talent, competence, dedication and effort of a group of notable Porto residents, emeritus institutions and personalities with special ties to the city,” according to Rui Moreira, the mayor.

Among the 52 individuals and associations that received this year’s Municipal Merit Medal was Rui Centeno, a professor at the Faculty of Letters (FLUP) and a researcher at CITCEM.

The ceremony to award the municipal medals took place at Casa do Roseiral on July 9, the date marking the arrival of King Pedro IV in Porto in 1832.
