Biographical note

Mélanie Lopes has an undergraduate degree in Heritage Management and a master’s degree in History and Heritage – Heritage Mediation, in which she created the project Memórias do Salto. The project was later developed by the Association of Friends of the Abbot of Baçal Museum, through the NORTE2020 Funding Program. He continued to work on the development of this project, being responsible for the creation and processing of life stories and documentation of illegal immigrants, transposed to the database and website “Memórias do Salto” (Memories of Leap). She is currently in the 2nd year of her PhD in History at FLUP, with a grant from FCT. Following on from previous work, the thesis has as its theme “Memories of the Leap: discourses and practices on the (in)visibility of women emigrating to France (Trás-os-Montes: 1957-1974)”.
