Biographical note

Doctor summa cum laude in History from San Pablo CEU University (Madrid), specializing in social military History during the Ancien Régime, including the Peninsular War, was rewarded with the prestigious research award ‘Padre Patac’ in 2007 for a study on the War of the Spanish Succession.
Accredited as an Associate Professor, Private University Professor and as an Assistant Professor by the Spanish National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation of Spain (ANECA), up to this moment he has been a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow at the University of Warwick developing an international research on prisoners of war during the 18th Century. He is a member of the Transdisciplinary Research Center “Culture, Space and Memory” (CITCEM; University of Porto) and previously of the international research group ‘Lendűlet’ Holy Crown, at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, led by Dr. Géza Pálffy, and of the one led by Francisco Erice Sebares (University of Oviedo) to develop the Biographical Dictionary of Spanish Parlamentarians, supported by the Spanish Government (2006-2011). Currently director of MA at the International University of La Rioja (UNIR), he has taught at the University Isabel I, University Eötvös Loránd in Budapest, the Spanish National Distance Learning University (UNED) in Asturias and the University of Oviedo. He was also a guest lecturer in different summer and additional courses and supervised some postgraduate works. Moreover, in 2013 he was selected to draw up national bilingual exam material in Hungary commissioned by the Education Office of the Hungarian Ministry of Education and in 2021 as a peer reviewer for the Project Proposals submitted to the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia (SF).
Editor of the UNED journal Entemu (2012-13), and since 2022 member of the Scientific board of the journal L’Aigle. Revista de Historia Napoleónica, he has given several lectures and has several national and international publications dealing with social and military History, as they could be Asturias and the War of the Spanish Succession (Oviedo, 2009); ‘Spanish Zouaves for the Pope in 1867: the hidden problems’ (Seville, 2009); ‘Reflections on the utility of the historical novel as a dissemination and pedagogical tool’ (Széged, 2018) ‘Prisoners of war during the 18th Century and Humanity in misfortune’ (Budapest, 2016) or the several articles for the Historia Militar de España. Estudios historiográficos. Glosario y cronología, published in 2017 by the Spanish Royal Academy of History and the Spanish Commission of Military History, for instance.
In addition to that he has obtained several grants and scholarships related to History, has been referee and collaborator with specialized journals and press and was invited to impart many speeches and series of lectures, as well as to participate in several seminars, conferences and specialized congresses as it could be The Micro-Dynamics of Violence Conference (University of Oxford, 2018). In this way he has been a member of the Spanish Delegations in the XXXIIth and XXXVth international congresses of Military History, held in Potsdam (2006) and Porto (2009) respectively.
He organized and led several activities in the Academic Area, like the international Congress The Evolution of the figure of the Prisoner of War in the Early Modern Age until de Napoleonic Era: sources, perceptions, experiences and sociability (Complutense University of Madrid, 2018), the international workshop Prisoners of war and Human Rights in Europe before Geneva: 17th-19th centuries (University of Warwick, 2018), History symposium Three centuries of links between Spain and Hungary, with the UNED, the University Eötvös Loránd, the Embassy of Spain and the Instituto Cervantes of Budapest (Budapest, 2015); the course An approaching to the Military History of Spain. From Flanders to Afghanistan (UNED, 2012), for instance.
Likewise, he is a member of the Marie Curie Alumni Association, Founding member of the Spanish Association of Military History (ASEHISMI) and served as a NATO Subject Matter Expert (provided with NATO Secret Clearance) in the Exercise Trident Juncture 2015.
