Historian and archaeologist, he has dedicated himself to the study of the settlement and defensive organization of the Douro valley in the Middle Ages. He is also the author of several research works on the Roman and medieval site of Tongobriga (Freixo, Marco de Canaveses), where he worked for more than two decades. He has a degree in History, variant of Archaeology (1988) and a Master in Archaeology (1994) from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto. He currently works at the Regional Directorate of Culture of the North.
