Images in History: Film and Photography in the 20th and 21st Centuries

Images occupy a central place in the production of visual culture in the 20th and 21st centuries.

In the last decades of the 20th century, historiography has invested in new theoretical and methodological contributions for the understanding of audiovisual production as an object of investigation for the Social Sciences in general and History in particular. Debates about the importance of the image as source/object and the urgency of a visual and aesthetic literacy have multiplied. This book, with multiple European and Latin American contributions, helps to multiply perspectives of analysis of images and their multiple uses in the contemporary world.
