Identity or identities? The concept can mean too much, when perceived with a strong meaning, or not enough, when the opposite happens (Brubaker & Cooper, 2000). But could change compromise the dialogues and interactions of cities and their occupants – with each other and with itself – at a time when the world is in transformation – compromising the identities of the different?

With the motto set, the city of Porto and the University of Porto will be, from October 26 to 29, 2022, the place for debate and reflection of the XVII edition of IBERCOM – Ibero-American Communication Congress, whose central theme will be “Communication, Identities and Dialogue in the Mediatized City”.

The congress is organized by the Ibero-American Association of Communication Researchers (ASSIBERCOM) in partnership with CITCEM – Center for Transdisciplinary Research “Culture, Space and Memory”, a R&D unit of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto (FLUP).

In favor of the development of knowledge and science, the congress organization invites researchers, professors, and graduate students to present their research.
