VI National Congress of Numismatics
A little more than twenty years after the last National Congress of Numismatics, it was necessary to resume the organization of these scientific meetings that allow the presentation of the most recent advances in numismatic research and always provide a useful confraternization between all scholars and interested in the development of this science, as well as its divulgation to new publics, especially among the younger generations.
Aware of this imperative and in the context of the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of its formal foundation that occurs in 2022, the Board of the Portuguese Numismatic Society decided that this was the right time to move forward with the organization of the VI National Congress of Numismatics, will take place in Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto, on November 24-26, 2022The event is also supported by the Porto City Hall, Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda, Dr. António Cupertino de Miranda Foundation and Museu do Papel Moeda, Associação Comercial do Porto, Niepoort S.A., CITCEM-Centro de Investigação Transdisciplinar, Cultura, Espaço e Memória, Numisma S.A., Numisporto, Adriano Gomes (Numismatica), Portuscalle Numismática, among other public and private entities.
SPN appreciates the important support received from the entities and personalities it contacted, believing that this collaboration will certainly be extended to the entire numismatic community in Portugal, as well as to all those interested in the study, appreciation and promotion of our common numismatic heritage. With about a hundred registered participants already, we believe that this congress will mark a new collaborative stage among all scholars and enthusiasts of this area of knowledge, boosting numismatic collecting and research in Portugal.
