Jorge Alves Osório is a retired Full Professor from FLUP. A specialist in Medieval and Renaissance Portuguese Literature, he is the author of a vast body of work, among which we can highlight the many works dedicated to Gil Vicente and Bernardim Ribeiro.

Our first book of chivalry, entitledChronica do Emperador Clarimundo, donde os reys dePortugal descememem (João de Barros 1496-1570), was first published in 1522. In this Open Seminar, Professor Jorge Alves Osório will present some of the dimensions of this literary vein that circulated widely in 16th century Portugal.
