International Congress on the Management of Urban World Heritage Sites: the challenges and risks of preservation
The UFJF Cultural Heritage Laboratory (LAPA), ICOMOS Brazil and the Heritage and International Relations Research Group (CNPq) invite interested parties to take part in and present their research at the 1st International Congress on the Management of Urban World Heritage Sites: Preservation Challenges and Risks / 1st International Symposium: Mining World Heritage Sites in the International Context, which aims to shed light on the state of the art of preserving urban world heritage sites that have been accredited to date. The choice of themes responds to the demands that have been growing in recent years, as a result of a more responsible awareness on the part of the various preservationist actors, as well as the need to better understand the dynamics, discourses and practices of safeguarding these urban world heritage sites, especially in the face of the increasingly present threats that surround their maintenance, conservation and preservation. This meeting seeks to promote the exchange of experiences on the management of world heritage sites in Brazil, with special attention to those located in the state of Minas Gerais and similar experiences at international level, emphasizing the understanding of the processes of safeguarding and disseminating them. In this sense, we invite the academic community and anyone interested to attend the conferences, round tables and register their work in one of the six thematic areas on offer.
