History of Architecture. Thematic perspectives
This book is a collection of thematic texts on the History of Architecture, presenting different and complementary scientific approaches to the study and understanding of the built object.
The thematic axes Civil Architecture, Religious Architecture, Military Architecture, Cities and Equipment, Producers, Artists and Clientele correspond to themes that were addressed by national and foreign researchers who collaborated from 2013 to 2015 in the first five History of Architecture Days (see http://historiadaarquitetura.weebly.com). The published works are a sample of different methodologies applied to different spatial and functional typologies of architectural objects, from residential houses, military equipment and hospitals, religious buildings to urban equipment and structures.
Although the chronological scope of the studies focuses on architectural heritage from the 15th to the 20th centuries, the diversity and rationale of the methodologies applied, also resulting from the researcher’s training profile, demonstrate the cutting-edge research being practiced at academic level.
