Heritage Conservation and Museums in Czechia (Martin Horáček)
As early as May 27, at 10 a.m., Martin Horáček will give an online lecture on heritage conservation and museums in the Czech Republic.
The lecture will give an overview of the history and current conditions of cultural heritage conservation and presentation in Chechia. The presentation will highlight the most representative examples of various regional heritage assets such as World Heritage Sites and the most important public collections (museums, galleries).
Martin Horáček is an architectural historian, theorist and conservationist, and associate professor at the Department of Art History at Palacký Olomouc University and the Faculty of Architecture at Brno University of Technology in the Czech Republic. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Czech Ministry of Culture for the Evaluation of Heritage Protection Proposals, a member of the ICOMOS Executive Committee and several international scientific committees and working groups of ICOMOS. In 2021, it became a member of the European Heritage Label Panel. He is the author of three books, including Za krásnější svět: Traditionalismus v architektuře 20. a 21. století / Toward a More Beautiful World: Traditionalism in Architecture of the 20th and 21st Centuries (Brno, 2013).
