International Symposium “Medicine in the Information Age” (MEDINFOR)

The Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) and the University of Porto (U.Porto) are organizing the 7th International Colloquium “Medicine in the Information Age” (MEDINFOR), which will be held in person from November 3 to 5, 2026, at the Federal University of Bahia, in Salvador, Brazil.

The Colloquium is chaired by Professor Zeny Duarte de Miranda (UFBA) and Professor Fernanda Ribeiro (University of Porto), with Professor Armando Malheiro da Silva (University of Porto) serving as Honorary Chair. The organizing committee brings together leading researchers from both universities, upholding the tradition of scientific rigor and academic cooperation.

Organized as part of an international partnership between U.Porto and UFBA, MEDINFOR brings together researchers from various fields, such as Information Science, Health Sciences, Computer Science, Memory, Identity, and Culture. The event features an International Scientific Committee, which is responsible for ensuring academic quality.

Now in its seventh edition, MEDINFOR reaffirms its role as a forum for theoretical, epistemological, technical, methodological, practical, and ethical reflection, fostering multidisciplinary dialogue among Information, Medicine, Culture, and Technology.

In this edition, the Colloquium broadens its scope to include Memory, Culture, Identity, Heritage, and Interculturality in Health. A highlight of the event will be the roundtable discussion titled “Information Systems and Medical Epistemology: Knowledge, Care, and Society,” which will bring together international researchers.
