Archaeosciences 2019 - Researchers around the world: archaeology and anthropology across borders. Projects, methods and challenges
The 2019 edition of Arqueociências brings together a group of researchers with basic training in archaeology or physical anthropology developed in Portuguese universities, but professional or research paths that have led them to join multidisciplinary teams and projects with an international scope.
Focused on different chronologies, geographies and contexts, these projects were born from the combination of different circumstances and sought (or still seek) to respond to specific inquiries and objectives. They involved networking between different institutions, people and knowledge; the use of basic training for researchers and their openness to other learning.
Taking the communicants’ experience and perspective as a starting point, the aim is to “visit” each of the intervention spaces: spaces with their own scale, history and identity. The aim is also to get to know the nature of the approach they were subjected to; the methodologies applied to them, their possibilities and limits; the technical and human challenges the teams faced; what conditioned them in their day-to-day work and in the subsequent production of knowledge.
