Tribute colloquium "On the centenary of the birth of António Domingues de Sousa Costa: a life at the service of research"
Date: February 10, 2026
Venue: Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Lisbon (Exhibition Room, 2nd floor of the Library building)
Born on February 10, 1926, António Domingues de Sousa Costa dedicated his work to Portuguese medieval history and, above all, to ecclesiastical history. Over the course of more than four decades, he went through Portuguese and foreign archives, with particular emphasis on the Vatican Apostolic Archives, identifying and transcribing tens of thousands of documents relating to Portugal. This effort resulted in numerous publications, including the Monumenta Portugaliae Vaticana. This colloquium is intended as a tribute to this historian, promoting reflection and dialogue on the themes he cultivated.
Free entry upon prior registration (until 12 noon on 09/02)
