ERC and FLUP Form a Partnership in the Field of Media Research

The ERC—the Regulatory Authority for Communications—and the Faculty of Arts at the University of Porto (FLUP) signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration and promoting the sharing of knowledge in areas of mutual interest.

The protocol provides for the development of cooperation with FLUP through CITCEM —the Center for Transdisciplinary Research on Culture, Space, and Memory—specifically through the joint conduct of studies and research projects, as well as events, seminars, conferences, and other initiatives that promote interaction and the sharing of knowledge among researchers, students, professionals, and experts.

For Helena Sousa, Chair of the ERC’s Regulatory Council, “closer ties between regulation and academia are essential for deepening our understanding of a sector undergoing constant transformation and for reflecting, in an informed and multifaceted manner, on the challenges facing media regulation.” “This protocol reinforces the ERC’s commitment to creating knowledge networks and developing new forms of cooperation with academia and research centers.”

For CITCEM’s Scientific Coordinator, Inês Amorim, “the cooperation with the ERC that FLUP is now establishing through CITCEM is in line with the unit’s strategic plan, as it opens doors to broaden dialogue, with a view, in this context, strengthening the scientific research conducted by the ICCD (Information, Communication, and Digital Culture) group, particularly on topics involving journalism and its (survival) in an ever-changing media landscape.”
