CITCEM researcher wins 2023 Scientific Employment Incentive competition

Francisco Manuel Antunes Soares, a researcher at CITCEM, had his project “Reading in Angola in the 19th century: literary references commented on in periodicals circulating in the colony” approved in the Individual Scientific Employment Stimulus Competition, promoted by the Foundation for Science and Technology, in the Principal Researcher category.

According to the researcher, “This project aims to develop my research into the circulation of cultural, literary and bibliographical knowledge in 19th century Angola. Having previously investigated all the possible archival sources and the only public library from the 19th century [em Angola], it is now time to begin the research through the commentaries and references to the bibliography of contemporary periodicals that certainly circulated in Angola.”

This year, for the position of Principal Researcher on the Languages and Literature panel, 24 applications were submitted, but only 3 researchers had their projects approved.
