CITCEM congratulates Angolan poet, researcher, essayist, chronicler and novelist Ana Paula Tavares, who was awarded the Camões Prize 2025, and whose career and merit were highlighted at a conference organized by CITCEM/FLUP and the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon in 2023.

The jury decided to award the Camões Prize 2025 to Angolan writer Ana Paula Tavares, distinguishing “her fruitful and coherent path of aesthetic creation and, in particular, her rescue of the dignity of poetry”. The Jury also stressed that “with the diction of her lyricism, without evasive concessions, and with the free commitments of production in chronicle and narrative fiction, Ana Paula Tavares’ work also acquires a relevant anthropological dimension from a historical perspective.”
