The international congress “Dilating the Faith against the Empire? Portugal, Propaganda Fide and the Catholic Mission”.
During the two days of the meeting, organized by CITCEM|FLUP and the Centro de Estudos de História Religiosa|Universidade Católica Portuguesa, there will be three keynote speakers and 11 lecturers divided into 4 thematic tables, as well as 3 guests at a round table on mission today, which will include Archbishop D. Luiz Fernando Lisboa, missionary and former Bishop of Pemba, Mozambique.
During this meeting it is intended to have a historical analysis and debate around the Sacred Congregation of Propaganda Fide, the last of the Roman Congregations established before the century. XX, highlighting its importance as a producer of documentary memory that mirrors the projects and interventions in the material vicilizations of the Western and Eastern worlds. This congress also aims to encourage a rethinking of local and global organizations and their historical and ethical challenges in the contemporary world.
