The Cabeceiras de Basto City Hall will hold, on September 17th, starting at 3pm, the event “Our Monastery”, with four initiatives that contribute to the appreciation of the Monastery of S. Miguel de Refojos. Among the events is the inauguration of the Cabeceiras de Basto Benedictine Study Center.

The cloisters of the Monastery of S. Miguel de Refojos will be the stage for “four distinct but interconnected moments” intended to mark the initiative “Our Monastery”, through which the city council has been working to formalize a candidacy of the 17th century building as a World Heritage Site. In this context, the inaugurations of the Espaço Ilídio dos Santos – Acolhimento ao Visitante and of the Centro de Estudos Beneditinos de Cabeceiras de Basto will take place, as well as the signature of the donation contract to Cabeceiras de Basto of the Monk Library of the Order of S. Bento, Prof. Frei Geraldo Coelho Dias, a researcher at CITCEM/FLUP. The program also includes the presentation of the Proceedings of the V International Seminar Ora Et Labora “Refojos de Basto: Benedictine Readings, Texts and Authors”, by Prof. Armando Malheiro.
