Francesco Guidi-Bruscoli (U. Florence) will be the next guest of the seminars on Foreign Archival Sources for the Study of the History of Portugal.

Professor of economic history at the University of Florence in Italy, his research interests include the analysis of settlement strategies abroad of merchant communities, interactions with local markets, as well as the cooperation and competition of these actors during the medieval period. Among his works, highlights include “Bartolomeo Marchionni. “Homem de Grossa Fazenda” (ca. 1450-1530): un mercante fiorentino a Lisbona e l’impero portoghese”, published in 2014. Throughout his academic career he has been a researcher at Queen Mary of the University of London, a visiting professor at the University of Paris VII, and a visiting researcher at Yale’s Beinecke Library.

On May 6, 2021, at 2:30 pm, via Zoom, Francesco Guidi-Bruscoli will present a session on sources from the Italian region of Tuscany of interest to late-medieval Portuguese history.

The session is open access, with no registration required. All students and researchers and faculty members are very welcome.
