Algorithmic News: Cyberjournalism, AI and Digital Ecosystems

NEW PUBLICATION

Fernando Zamith, Pedro Jerónimo & Ricardo Morais (eds.)

The book Algorithmic News: Cyberjournalism, AI and Digital Ecosystemsedited by Fernando Zamith, Pedro Jerónimo and Ricardo Morais, three members of ObCiber, in a publication published by Livros LabCom (University of Beira Interior).

The book brings together studies on the impact of artificial intelligence, digital platforms and new media ecosystems on contemporary journalism. Based on the papers presented and the debate that took place at the VIII International Congress of Cyberjournalism (organized by ObCiber and CITCEM in November 2024 at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto), the book addresses topics such as algorithmic propaganda, disinformation, business models, news deserts, media literacy and digital accessibility.

Over the course of seven chapters, the authors propose a critical reading of journalism in a time marked by algorithms, data and new forms of mediation, advocating transparency, inclusion and editorial responsibility.

The book can be downloaded for free or ordered in printed form from the LabCom website.
