II Seminar on Good Practices in Language Teaching
The II Seminar on Good Practices in Language Teaching: Ethical Practices in Times of AI will take place at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto (FLUP) on February 23, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Noble Amphitheatre.
This training seminar brings together experts and teachers for a current reflection on the ethical and pedagogical challenges of language teaching in times of Artificial Intelligence. The program includes the participation of Marco Bento (Escola Superior de Educação de Coimbra), who will present the session “Artificial Intelligence in Today’s School”, focusing on the potential and challenges of AI in educational contexts, and Álvaro dos Santos (Instituto Politécnico Jean Piaget do Norte/Escola Secundária Dr. Joaquim Gomes Ferreira Alves), whose experience of educational leadership and innovation will enrich the debate.
The event also includes the round table “Dialogues on experiences and challenges in language teaching”, moderated by Carlos Lindade, in which two former FLUP students – Diana de Oliveira Gomes (MEIEFA) and Diogo Rebelo (MEPIEFA) – currently working as teachers, will share their professional experiences.
The initiative is part of FLUP’s master’s degrees in language teaching: MEIEFA (Master’s in Teaching English and a Foreign Language in the 3rd Cycle of Basic Education and Secondary Education) and MEPIEFA (Master’s in Teaching Portuguese and a Foreign Language in the 3rd Cycle of Basic Education and Secondary Education).
Participation is free.
