IX International Meeting of Camonists - Call for Papers
The time of Camões: Camões in our time
Call for papers/Braga, March 19-20; Porto, April 15-16;
Lisbon, June 4-5, 2026
The IX International Meeting of Camonists will be a congress promoted by the Mission Structure, the entity responsible for the “Celebrations of the 5th Centenary of the Birth of Luís de Camões”, and will take place in three cities (Braga, Porto and Lisbon), between March and June 2026. The main objectives will be to evaluate and discuss the main trends in this field of research, as well as to design an agenda for Camonian studies for the future.
Submitting proposals
The Free Communication Panels will consist of a moderator and three speakers, with each presentation lasting 20 minutes. Communication proposals should focus on the following themes:
Braga, March 19-20
- Camonian studies: itinerary(s)
- Edit Camões
- Camões and the classical tradition
- Camonian studies: continuity and renewal
Porto, April 15-16
- Camões and his time
- Camões and the modern tradition
- Camões in Portuguese-speaking African literatures and cultures
- Camões and the Portuguese language
Lisbon, June 4-5
- Camões in Brazil
- Camões and the arts: memory and projection
- Camonian studies: continuity and renewal
- Camões and the European literary canon

- brief biographical note (up to 100 words);
- title of the communication;
- abstract (up to 300 words) and keywords (3 to 5).
