Women of the Sea
The 13th edition of the “Challenges of the Portuguese Sea” Seminar, with the theme “Women of the Sea”, proposes a reflection on the role of women in the maritime universe, in its multiple dimensions: historical, cultural and symbolic. Bringing together a diverse range of actors, this edition will cover different periods and contexts, giving visibility to women’s experiences linked to the sea. More than revisiting the past, this seminar will shed new light on the presence of women at sea in Portugal and the importance of integrating these experiences into the construction of a richer and more representative collective memory.
The event was organized in partnership with CITCEM – Transdisciplinary Research Centre “Culture, Space and Memory”, from the University of Porto, and is part of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030).
This edition will be accredited as a short course (6 hours) for kindergarten teachers and teachers of all levels/grade levels, by registering on the website of the Area Training Center at www.cfaecivob.pt.
