Science 2025
Portugal’s largest science and technology meeting will be held from July 9 to 11 at the NOVA SBE Campus in Carcavelos, and its theme is “Science, Innovation and Society”.
It will be a stage for promoting and discussing the scientific, social, cultural and economic impact of research in Portugal, exploring the intersection between science, innovation and society, to inspire new ideas and foster transformative collaborations.
About the session“Science communication and cyberjournalism“
The aim of this round table is to stimulate transdisciplinary thinking and critical reflection on the relevance, pertinence and viability of science communication that involves communities through proximity cyberjournalism.
We will start by asking the guest speakers to comment on the topic, based on their experience and research.
Ana Sanchez, who has a PhD in Biology, created and led the Science Communication Office at ITQB NOVA and co-coordinates the Master’s Degree in Science Communication at NOVA, where the Antena 1 program “90 minutos de ciência” was born. He is part of the Journalism Science Alliance team, a newly funded program to support science-based investigative journalism projects.
Pedro Jerónimo, author of the first doctoral thesis on proximity cyberjournalism to be defended in Portugal, has dedicated the last few years to the so-called “news deserts”, disinformation and media literacy at a local level.
Inês Amorim, who has a PhD in History, specializing in Modern and Contemporary History and Economic and Social History, is the scientific coordinator of CITCEM, a UID that encourages transdisciplinary research at the intersection of culture, space and memory.
The moderator, Fernando Zamith, coordinates the Information, Communication and Digital Culture group at CITCEM and runs the Cyberjournalism Observatory.
The round table format was chosen in order to extend the reflection to the participation of the audience, who will be asked to intervene after the three speakers have spoken.
