Paths of Historiography: History and Social Sciences from the 1940s to the Present "Teaching and History Policies in Universities, Academies and Private Institutions"

The changes that have taken place since the mid-20th century to the present day in history teaching policies and in the place it has been given in universities, academies and private institutions are notable. The two processes have obvious correlations and are inseparable both from the transformations that have taken place in education policies in general and from the appropriation and use of teaching and history by social actors in different regimes and political cycles.

Paths of Historiography: History and Social Sciences from the 1940s to the Present Day

The conference cycle “Paths of historiography: history and social sciences from the 1940s to the present day” aims to deepen knowledge about the orientations and practices adopted by history and other social and human sciences in Portugal since the 1940s. Through six monthly open-access seminars (October 2023-April 2024), the initiative will mobilize multiple historical research centers and researchers from all over the country, paying particular attention to young researchers interested in presenting the results of their research. In the end, a book will be published bringing together the best papers presented and debated at the seminars.
