1ST INTERNATIONAL MEETING ON SAFEGUARDING, COMMUNICATION AND DIGITAL MEDIATION OF CULTURAL HERITAGE
In recent years we have witnessed the growth of the potential of digital applied to communication and mediation of Cultural Heritage. In line with international guidelines, such as the Seville Principles (2011), the concepts set forth in the London Charter (2014) and more recently the Porto Santo Charter (2021), this International Meeting seeks to foster a multidisciplinary approach that brings together areas such as Archaeology, History and Art History, Museology, Heritage Studies, Digital Design, Archival Studies and Artificial Intelligence. As stated in the Porto Santo Charter, the use of “digital territories” can be “an open space for interaction, appropriation, and promotion of cultural democracy, even from the point of view of creation (…)”, as well as a means of connecting institutions and citizens as members of a given community. These tools must therefore be useful to people and involve them in the cultural policies of the heritage that belongs to them and of which they are necessarily a part. In this sense, it is intended to promote the necessary reflection on the multidisciplinary character of these “digital territories” that involve technology and knowledge creation, with a view to better communication and, consequently, enjoyment of means designed “for the exercise of cultural democracy” (Porto Santo Charter, 2021), at local, national and international scales.
In view of the intrinsic relationship between the development of digital technologies and heritage communication, the scientific community is invited to submit innovative proposals, from a broad and multidisciplinary perspective, based on the following reflection topics:
Registration, backup and access
Documentation and conservation of the Digital Heritage
Digitization of Cultural Heritage Conservation of Cultural Heritage through AR, VR and Metaverse
Sustainability and Digital Heritage

Immersive Experiences
